RECOMMENDATION
for the last issue of the Transylvanian restorers` review
The 15th issue of ISIS offers interesting lectures, without any thematic constraints, for all those familiar with the specific language of the discipline, but it can also stand as a valuable source of history of art in the enigmatic world of our material heritage.
The volume starts with the paper of painting restorer István Bóna. The associate professor of the Hungarian University of Arts publishes his work under the title Urgent Conservation of the Roman Period Murals from Pécsvárad.
The second writing also presents a specific segment of built heritage; entitled Restoration of the Murals on the Ceiling of Church Banu from Iași, it is signed by the associate professor of the George Enescu University of Arts.
At the Hungarian University of Arts, Fruzsina Bencze got the task to restore the oil painting representing Mary Stuart Royal Princess and William Prince of Orange. In her paper the reader can discover the details of the restoration process.
The study of Júlia Tövissi, entitled Luster Technique on Silver Base in 18th Century Cookbooks is based on the analysis and comparison of 32 recipes taken from eight cookbooks.
The authors Levente Domokos and István Sajó set their target on The Pigment Analysis of the Painted Furniture from Odorhei Region. Their paper sums up the results of meticulous laboratory analysis, being a delicacy also for those involved in the world of painted furniture.
The sixth paper of the volume is a case study. Lili Eszter Fa undertook the task to restore and present a Cyrillic manuscript from the end of the 16th century.
Rebeka Nagy from Szombathely has chosen to restore the wear in which Erzsébet Batthyány was buried, in the year 1674, in the crypt of St Martin’s church. The reader has an insight in the details of this process.
The last study of the volume – Windows with Simple Geometric Segmentation - the Importance of their Protection and Preservation – is signed by a real specialist on this field. Éva Mester offers an overview of history of art on construction glasswork, on their preservation, and the importance of their restoration.
The 15th volume of ISIS Transylvanian Hungarian Restorer Review is completed with the word to word Romanian translation of the papers, and their abstracts in English. Just like the previous issues, this volume also will be available soon on the web site www.epa.oszka.hu/isis.
